I am excited and proud to be the Principal of Shearer Elementary. At Shearer our goal is EXCELLENCE for everyone! We want to welcome you, our parents, and community members to an active part of our school. Our students need to come to school everyday, so they do not miss any of the wonderful things we will be teaching them. I was born in Hazard, Kentucky and raised in a community called Busy, Kentucky which encompasses both Leslie and Perry counties. I
am among a family of educators & administrators including my grandmother, father, uncles and sister. I started my school career in a little
3 room school house where my father was the head teacher. We used to get there early each morning to build the fire in the big wood
stove that kept our little school warm in the winter. There is a print of this picture that hangs over my desk to remind me of my beginnings
in education.
I graduated elementary school in Perry County and high school
in Leslie County. I went on to obtain both a Bachelor's and
Master's degree in education grades 1-8. Since then, I have
acquired certifications for Educational Consultant, Principal (all
grades),
Supervisor of Instruction, and Information Technology (grades
5-12).
My experience includes several years of elementary teaching, middle
school science teaching, and 7 years as a Curriculum/Technology
Integration Specialist and an Academic Performance Specialist for a total
of 23 years.
I love Shearer Elementary children first and foremost. It is my goal to
provide them with the best education possible so they will
possess the academic and social tools to be successful in future grades
and in life! We have an excellent staff that works hard for
your children. You are invited to become involved in our school as much
