| The main job of our Family Resource Center (FRC) is to serve as a connection between the home and school. We are not part of the attendance or welfare system. We are here to help families. FRC staff often make home visits when teachers have concerns about students. We let parents know when their child is sick and need to go home; when a conference with a teacher needs to be set up, or when there are other problems. We assist parents with the resources in our community for clothes, food, housing, counseling, and other needs. We keep a few clothes in our center for accidents, administer the back pack program, maintain a lending library, direct the Christmas giving program and Kiwanis shoe program. FRC staff works closely with the nurse and can help with getting and repairing glasses. The FRC also works with community organizations such as the dental sealant van, train safety programs, in school Big Brothers/Big Sisters and 4-H activities. The FRC provides classes to parents quarterly. We work closely with school organizations for parent/student programs like the book fair, kindergarten sign-ups/orientation, PTO programs, hygiene classes and school supplies. The Family Resource Center has an Advisory Council. This council meets for one hour after school on the last Monday of every other month. The Advisory Council is made up of parents, community members, and school staff. They review the contact numbers, programs, budget of the center and makes recommendations for future activities. We always welcome new members. If you are interested in serving, or would like more information about your FRC, you may contact our staff at 859-745-2497 or by coming by the office (located at the entrance to the primary wing.) We also have an outside entrance which can be reached from the back parking lot.
